How to Apply

Eligibility

Please read the following carefully before making an application:

Competition for admission to the University of Cambridge graduate programme is intense. The BBSRC DTP Programme, like all Departments in the Graduate School of Life Sciences (GSLS), applies the entry requirements stipulated by Graduate Admissions and the GSLS.

We require our graduate entrants to have:

  1. at least a Class 2.1 Honours Bachelors Degree, or a Masters degree, from a UK University, or an equivalent standard from an EU or Overseas University (e.g. CGPA 3.5/4.0) in a relevant subject
  2. two outstanding references from senior University staff at your most recent University
  3. fluency in the English language—recent IELTS test with an overall band score of at least 7.0 with not less than 7.0 in speaking, listening and writing, and 6.5 in reading.

Funding Information 

UK and EEA students who meet the UK residency requirements will be eligible for a full BBSRC studentship. Students from EEA countries who do not meet the residency requirements may still be eligible for a fees-only award.

How to Apply

The University of Cambridge is offering up to 30 four-year BBSRC-funded studentships starting in October 2018. UK and EEA students are invited to apply for the Programme by visiting the University's online Applicant Portal. Please note that each online application will incur a fee of £50.

Please visit the link above for full instructions and a link to the Applicant Portal. Please choose 'BBSRC DTP PhD in Biological Sciences' (course code: BLBB22) on the application form. Please indicate which BBSRC research Theme you would like to apply to—you can apply for more than one Theme; however, you must choose at least one. Students are not normally allowed to change Theme, so we encourage you to read about each Theme and the research conducted by academics within the DTP Partnership before choosing.

The deadline for online applications is December 2017, with ALL supporting documentation to be submitted within seven days (December 2017). Interviews will be held the w/c 22 January 2018.
