Four students from the BBSRC DTP programme; Stefania Mataragka, Laura Mitchell, Helena Pérez and I, have entered the Biotechnology YES (Young Entrepreneurs Scheme) competition. The competition requires us to develop a hypothetical product and business model, which we will then pitch to a board of judges. It will take place over three days at GlaxoSmithKline in Stevenage.
Biotechnology YES aims to encourage entrepreneurship amongst early career researchers as well as develop the business skills of the participants. The competition is funded by sponsorship and aims to encourage an entrepreneurial culture in the UK bioscience postgraduate and postdoctoral base for the benefit of the UK economy.
Further information on Biotechnology YES can be found on their website.
