PIPS 2025 - Speed Networking: host organisations representatives and DTP students

Our annual PIPS Symposium took place on Friday, 28 March, at the Babraham Campus, bringing together students and host organisations for a half-day of networking, insights, and career development opportunities. The event is designed to support current students who have yet to complete their PIPS by connecting them with potential host organisations across various sectors.

The symposium started with engaging presentations from both current and past students and former internship hosts. These sessions provided valuable insights into the diverse approaches students have taken to secure their PIPS placements. Alumni shared their experiences, highlighting how their internships contributed to their personal and professional growth, as well as how these opportunities enhanced their future career prospects.

A key highlight of this year’s event was the introduction of an exciting new speed networking session. This dynamic format allowed students and host representatives to engage in meaningful discussions, fostering new connections in an efficient and interactive manner. Early feedback from students indicated that this approach was highly effective in engaging with the host organisations.

The PIPS Symposium remains an inclusive cross-cohort event, offering a platform for students at various research stages to socialise and share experiences. Each year, the event evolves based on the needs and aspirations of the student community, ensuring a valuable and relevant experience for all participants.

Following the symposium, several host organisations continued to promote their PIPS opportunities through the DTP office, giving students direct access to exciting internship possibilities. We look forward to seeing the success stories that emerge from this year’s event and encourage students to explore the diverse opportunities available through PIPS!

A big thank you to all the host organisations attending the event for their ongoing support with our programme:
