Our Mission
The Cambridge Biosciences Doctoral Training Partnership (DTP), funded by the Doctoral Landscape Awards under UKRI. brings together four world-leading research institutions — the University of Cambridge, the Babraham Institute, the National Institute of Agricultural Botany (NIAB), and the Wellcome Sanger Institute — in partnership with UK Research and Innovation (BBSRC).
We aim to train the next generation of Bioscience leaders by providing research projects in our world leading groups, complemented by a training and cohort-building programme to develop their professional and transferable skills, and opportunities to work in diverse professional environments.
Our Doctoral Training Programme strives to recruit talented individuals from a range of backgrounds and to support them through their PhD studies. We aim to support students flexibly and can offer part-time routes to the PhD according to individual circumstances.
Expanding Partnerships and Research Opportunities
Our recent partnerships with the European Bioinformatics Institute (EBI) and Kew Gardens introduce exciting co-supervision opportunities for interdisciplinary projects. Situated in Europe’s largest bioscience hub, our programme offers valuable industry connections.
Training Future Innovators
We provide students with the skills, confidence and know-how, complemented by a professional network, to enable them to contribute fully to the bioeconomy. Our Programme also provides an ideal entry point for external organisations to initiate collaborations with researchers at the University of Cambridge and Partner Institutes.
The Cambridge DTP provides a vibrant, inclusive environment for students to pursue cutting-edge research and prepare for impactful careers across academia, industry, government, and the non-profit sector.
